School Routines

1. A Fresh Start: A calm morning and a good breakfast can help your youngster go to school with a positive attitude.

2. Backpack Check: Use your child's backpack to spark conversations about school. Go through it together and talk about what's inside and what is for homework. Make sure homework and studying is completed each night and all items needed are packed back inside the bag for the next day.

3. Screen-time and Computer Limits: Large doses of television, video games, and apps can distract your youngster from his/her "job": being a student. Encourage your child to spend free time reading for pleasure, or playing with friends. Experts recommend setting limits on screen-time.

4. Go to Bed at a Reasonable Time: It is very important to have a good night's sleep in order to feel good and alert for learning for the next day.

5. Stay in Touch: Tell the teacher about any changes in your child's life, such as the birth of a sibling or separation. Also consider joining the PTO, and try to attend school events.

6. Always spend Time Together as a Family: Even when life gets too busy, remember to always make time to be with family. It is so important for the children. Children need to feel love and support to be successful!
