Welcome to Mrs. Ricco's Page!

RETURN TO IN-PERSON WEEK OF 4/26/21
Here is the link to the emergency form, which must be filled out before your child returns to in-person learning.  It is the same form that was in the reopening plan document.  If you already linked to it from there, you do not need to fill it out again here.

Below is information in English (top link), Spanish (middle link), and Arabic (bottom link) to assist you in helping your child transition from full virtual learning to in-person hybrid learning.

Thank you for visiting my website!

First, a little about myself.  I am a highly qualified teacher who has been teaching in North Bergen since 2002.  I have a BA in English and an MS of Ed. I am the author of a children's math storybook entitled, Estimation Mountain and the Valley of Tens.  I have two children - a daughter and a son. I enjoy reading, doing sudoku puzzles, drinking coffee and the color purple!

Now, a little about my google classroom.  Starting the year off virtually is a first for everyone but I am committed to your child's education and will give my very best every day. You can help things run smoothly for your child and me. You can ensure your child is following my google classroom rules and expectations (see below). You can help your child manage assignment due dates and ensure they are completing all assignments. You can minimize distractions during live meets, such as pets, siblings and toys. I know it is difficult to watch your child struggle, but please try to allow your child to complete independent work, such as tests, independently so I can have an accurate assessment to drive my instruction and tailor it to your child's specific needs.

PARENT TO DO:

Please send me an email at [email protected] with a working email for me to contact you. You must also join Remind so we can text. Text messages are private and secure. You can join by texting 81010 to @mrsricco20

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

Students are expected to take on a lot of responsibility. They are working more independently to prepare for our live meets. To ensure every student's right to learn and enjoy being part of the class, all students are expected to:

1) be prompt and present at every live meet (no pj's or costumes!). They may not eat during our live meets;

2) be prepared to participate in the discussions and activities taking place;

3) complete all assignments by their due dates.

STUDENT RULES:

1) listen and follow directions

2) stay visible on screen at all times during the lesson

3) use digital hand raising and wait to be called on, and use the chat feature appropriately

4) be respectful of your classmates and your teacher

CONSEQUENCES

The first or second time your child breaks a rule, I will give them a warning.

The third time your child breaks a rule they will be removed from the meet and the parent will be notified.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason.  See the link labeled "Contact Mrs. Ricco".
